End of world

What the caterpillar calls
the end of the world,
the sage calls a butterfly."

Without spring, without autumn

The garden of Love is green without
limit and yields many fruits
other than sorrow and joy.
Love is beyond either condition:
without spring,
without autumn,
it is always fresh.

-- Rumi

We are the flute

We are the flute, our music is all Thine;
We are the mountains echoing only Thee;
And movest to defeat or victory;
Lions emblazoned high on flags unfurled-
They wind invisible sweeps us through the world.

You are put to dust

Before time takes you by surprise
Ask for good red wine and get wise
You are not of gold, don’t believe the lies
You are put to dust, once again you’ll rise.

- Omar Khayyam

Fill my cup again!

The caravan of life shall always pass
Beware that is fresh as sweet young grass
Let’s not worry about what tomorrow will amass
Fill my cup again, this night will pass, alas.

- Omar Khayyam

Take what is here now

Heaven is incomplete without a heavenly romance
Let a glass of wine be my present circumstance
Take what is here now, let go of a promised chance
A drumbeat is best heard from a distance.

(A future fantasy is no more than vain hope
With wishful minds for which we grope
I’d rather improve my current scope
To an upward trend from a downward slope)

- Omar Khayyam

The one reality

Confused by thoughts,
we experience duality in life.
Unencumbered by ideas,
the enlightened see the one Reality.

- Hui Neng

When the rose is gone..

When the rose is gone and the garden faded
you will no longer hear the nightingale's song.

The Beloved is all; the lover just a veil.
The Beloved is living; the lover a dead thing.

If love withholds its strengthening care,
the lover is left like a bird without care,
the lover is left like a bird without wings.

How will I be awake and aware
if the light of the Beloved is absent?
Love wills that this Word be brought forth

- Rumi (The Teachings of Rumi, By: E.H.Winfield)

Copper to Gold

Love makes bitter things sweet.
Love turns copper to gold.

With love dregs settle into clarity.
With love suffering ceases.

Love brings the dead back to life.
Love transforms the King into a slave.

Love is the consummation of Gnosis.
How could a fool sit on such a throne?

- Rumi

Our existences are really non-existence

We are as the flute, and the music in us is from thee;
we are as the mountain and the echo in us is from thee.

We are as pieces of chess engaged in victory and defeat:
our victory and defeat is from thee,
O thou whose qualities are comely!

Who are we, O Thou soul of our souls,
that we should remain in being beside thee?

We and our existences are really non-existence;
thou art the absolute Being which manifests the perishable.

We all are lions, but lions on a banner:
because of the wind they are rushing
onward from moment to moment.

Their onward rush is visible,
and the wind is unseen:
may that which is unseen not fail from us!

Our wind whereby we are moved and our being are of thy gift;
our whole existence is from thy bringing into being.

- Rumi

Emptiness of mind

Soul receives from soul that knowledge,
therefore not by book nor from tongue.

If knowledge of mysteries come after
emptiness of mind, that is illumination of heart.

- Rumi

Fall in love

The Lovers
will drink wine night and day.
They will drink until they can
tear away the veils of intellect and
melt away the layers of shame and modesty.

When in Love,
body, mind, heart and soul don't even exist.

Become this,
fall in Love, and you will not be separated again.

- Rumi

Lover of leaving

Come, come, whoever you are.
Wonderer, worshipper, lover of leaving.
It doesn't matter.
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you have broken your vow

a thousand times
Come, yet again, come, come.

- Rumi

Then we want to be kids again

There's too much future
and not enough time.
how can youth
feel so old?
i hear them shouting
in the street, laying in
newborn snow drifts
and wonder if i
ever sounded so innocent.
we are so concerned with
getting older
until we are old
and then we want to be
kids again.

At Dusk, Before Dawn

Life is a gift from Him too short,
now we are and then we are not.
He who has given this gift can snatch it any day.
Live life to the full anyway…

- Avantika Singh

Left with nothing to say!!

I love to love you secretly
I can get more of you that way.
Its such a pleasure this mystery,
whatever the hell you say!!

- Avantika Singh

Within Us..

What lies behind us and
what lies before us are
small matters to what lies within us.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Infinite possibilities!

The state of least excitation of consciousness
is the field of all possibilities.

- Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Web of life!

Man did not weave the web of life,
he is merely a strand in it.

Whatever he does to the web,
he does to himself.

- Chief Seattle

Mystery of the life?

The mystery of life
is not a problem to be solved
but a reality to be experienced.

- Aart Van Der Leeuw

Gift of fantasy

The gift of fantasy has meant more to me
than my talent for absorbing knowledge.

- Albert Einstein

Over distance and in no time

The universe on a very basic level
could be a vast web of particles
which remain in contact with one another
over distance, and in no time.

- R. Nadeau / M. Kafatos

Order in chaos

The whole history of science has been the gradual realization that events do not happen in an arbitrary manner, but that they reflect a certain underlying order, which may or may not be divinely inspired.

- Stephen Hawking

Potentialities Unlimited

Consciousness is the basis of all life and
the field of all possibilities.
Its nature is to expand and
unfold its full potential.
The impulse to evolve is thus
inherent in the very nature of life.

- Maharishi Yogi

Only one spirit

The spirit down here in man and
the spirit up there in the sun,
in reality are only one spirit, and
there is no other one.

- The Upanishads

God play dice

Not only does God play dice, but...
he sometimes throws them
where they cannot be seen.

- Stephen W. Hawking

The Truth

The truth
dazzles gradually,
or else
the world would be blind.

- Emily Dickinson

The birth of a man

The birth of a man is the birth of his sorrow.
The longer he lives, the more stupid he becomes,
because his anxiety to avoid unavoidable death
becomes more and more acute.

What bitterness!
He lives for what is always out of reach!
His thirst for survival in the future
makes him incapable of living in the present.

- Chang-Tzu
